If I could go back in time and spend a few hours with my mother I would spend that time making Christmas Sugar Cookies. We would spend hours adding different extracts for flavoring and mixing color for a specific shade of color. As a kid I wanted to frost the very best cookies for Santa. I can't remember the presents I received over the years but I remember the cookies we made. The colors and the flavors we experimented with to this day still bring a smile to my face.
Ingredients:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg white (no yoke)
1tsp cream of tartar
Steps:
Add powdered sugar, cream of tarter and egg white into a mixing bowl.
Stir ingredients until mixed. If your egg white makes it too soupy you can add more powdered sugar.
There are other ingredients that you can use for a more glossy look or dry look. This recipe is a perfect mixture of both.
Do you add flavoring to your icing? What is your favorite flavoring? Drop it in the comments below.
